Safety
When building homes and businesses the main concern of any general contractor is safety. The people who will inhabit these structures are the reason we build them, so obviously their safety is always at the forefront of our mind when choosing materials, designs, etc… At The Hybrid Group all of our structures no mater the material used, are designed and build to be as tough and safe as possible. However, we are lucky to have the option to offer the safest building technology out there called ICF, or insulated concrete forms.
ICF in the most basic way to explain is like having a super secure storm shelter, but it is your entire building. An ICF wall is a superior structural combination of concrete and steel. The average thickness of an ICF wall is 6” but can be adjusted to 8” if necessary. That is 6- 8” of concrete and steel protecting you, your family, your employees or your friends.
ICF compared to other structural options is not much of a comparison when it comes to the safety aspect. ICF offers greater protection from high winds in storms such as tornados and hurricanes, when other structures are being flattened and destroyed. Debris that can be hurled around during storms of that caliber is not a threat to ICF walls. Statistics show that an ICF wall can stop a 2×4 flying at 150 mph.
Other benefits of ICF walls:
• Fire- rated assembly
• Permanent strength
• No threat of decay or rotting
• No threat to termite infestation
• The sturdiness of rafter ties embedded in concrete
